Feb ’26 Monthly Meeting – The 200″ Hale Telescope on Mount Palomar

For this month’s talk, we welcome Dr. Steve Barrett for his presentation on the iconic Hale 200″ (5.1m) telescope that was the largest telescope in the world from 1949 until the mid-1970s (ref: Wikipedia).
Dr Barrett is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Physics at Liverpool University. His research work focusses on imaging and spectroscopy and his outreach work is prolific and has spoken to audiences totalling over 20,000 people! (ref: SpeakerNet)
