Gaia Mission – credit ESA

For our first meeting of the new year, George Seabroke will be providing an update on the Gaia mission. Dr Seabroke is a Principal Research Fellow at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London.

Just over 10 years ago, the European Space Agency launched the Gaia observatory and since then, the mission has produced a wealth of information mapping the structure and stars in our galaxy. The huge success of this mission has produced high quality data that has been invaluable in multiple areas of research.
