For October’s meeting, we welcome Dr Tom Killestein from the Astronomy and Astrophysics Group at Warwick University. Dr. Killestein works primarily with the Explosive Transients Group.
Dr. Killestein was awarded the Warwick Prize Fellow and is has interests in high performance deep learning classification algorithms for detecting transients from data acquired from the GOTO telescopes . Visit his page here: https://tkilleste.in/ where you will find more details about his work and publications to date. Also, for those of us interested in citizen science projects, Dr. Killestein is a co-lead in the Kilonova Seekers citizen science project – check out the link for this project here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/tkillestein/kilonova-seekers
