Dr Mike Lancaster will present this months talk on John Flamsteed who was in effect, the first Astronomer Royal.
Flamsteed hailed from Denby in Derbyshire and with Dr Lancaster’s association with the Derby and District Astronomical Society, it is probably no surprise that Dr Lancaster has become a recognised expert on this fascinating historical character.
Out of interest, the Derby and District Astronomical Society hold monthly observing sessions at the Flamsteed Observatory. I for one, am looking forward to hearing about that too!
