May ’26 Monthly Meeting – T Coronae Borealis The Blaze Star

For this month’s talk, we welcome Gary Poyner to the society where he will be talking about much anticipated outburst of T CrB – “the Blaze Star”.
Gary has been observing the night sky for over 60 years. As former head of the Variable Star Section of the British Astronomical Association, he now concentrates on Cataclysmic and Eruptive Variables and is the BAA Secretary for this group. He is the recipient of several awards from the BAA and the AAVSO.
Gary has many publications to his name. Apart from his knowledge of T CrB, he is particularly well known for his extensive studies of OJ 287 – a binary black hole system.
