Raw Sky by Mark Tweedie and Clint Hamilton – An Exhibition of Mixed Media Astronomical Images, Sketches and Poetry
Rugby Art Gallery and Museum – Floor One Gallery, Little Elborow St, Rugby CV21 3BZ
19th August – 6th September 2025: https://www.ragm.co.uk

We are delighted to announce an exhibition showing some of the stunning work created from our own Mark Tweedie, a well known and prolific astrophotographer..The exhibition, in collaboration with mixed-media artist Clint Hamilton, featuring some of his best images and sketches and looks at the aesthetic and inspirational aspects of the night sky.
Mark’s work straddles the gulf between art and science with high-resolution photographs, lunar sketches and specific scientific references to physical scales and time frames presented to emphasise the visual aspect of the subject, mixed with poetry.
A concertina book on display is made to a scale where the Earth on the front cover and the Moon on the back are printed to scale with each other and the length of the book when extended represents the average distance between the two bodies at the same scale, while the words express the joy and wonder of seeing astronomical objects in close-up detail.
In addition to this there are photogravures of deep sky objects. Photogravure is a modern take on the ancient printing method of etching which uses photosensitive plates and water rather than copper plates and acid to make an etched original which can then be inked and passed through a high-pressure printing press.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday 19th August and Saturday 6th Septmber (Tues – Fri 10am – 5pm, 10am – 4pm Sat) in the Floor One Gallery at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. There will be a reception on Saturday 23rd August from 1.30 – 3.30pm with drinks and nibbles to which all are cordially invited.”
